Boeing C-17 Globemaster III - March Field

Appearing this year is America's newest airlifter, the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III - the aircraft that ensures rapid global mobility for America.

The aircraft will takeoff performing a maximum angle climb, demonstrating its impressive power and the ability to depart an airport where enemy resistance is suspected. With a departure climb angle just over 35 degrees nose up, the aircraft will reach over 1,500 feet before crossing the departure end of the runway.

Currently, your March Field C-17 aircrews are flying directly into Iraq and Afghanistan to airlift our wounded soldiers right out of the front lines and directly to hospitals in Germany. These flights immensely improve the moral of our wounded soldiers in need of quick medical attention.

F/A-18E/F "Super Hornet" - Lemoore Naval Air Station

The multi-mission F/A-18E/F "Super Hornet" strike fighter is an evolutionary upgrade of the combat-proven night strike F/A-18C/D. The Super Hornet will provide the battle group commander with a platform that has significant growth potential, more than adequate carrier based landing weight, as well as range, endurance, and ordnance carriage capabilities comparable to the A-6 and F-14 which are now being retired. The F/A-18E/F is also considerably more survivable than the most recent F/A-18C/Ds which will permit unescorted operations against highly defended targets early in the conflict. The Navy/Industry F/A-18E/F team has developed a remarkably improved aircraft, taking advantage of more than 3,000,000 flight hours experience with the F/A-18A/B/C/D versions; correcting known deficiencies, and adding many new capabilities.

SH-60B Sea Hawk - Naval Air Station North Island

The SH-60B Sea Hawk is a twin-engine helicopter. It is used for anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue, drug interdiction, anti-ship warfare, cargo lift, and special operations. The Navy's SH-60B Seahawk is an airborne platform based aboard cruisers, destroyers, and frigates and deploys sonobouys (sonic detectors) and torpedoes in an anti-submarine role. The "Battle Cats" Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron is based at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronardo, California. The "Battle Cats" will have the helicopter on static display.
